Aesop Goatherd Goats

tale:aesop_goatherd_goats

A goatherd shelters some wild goats with his own and, hoping to keep them, feeds the newcomers the better fare. When the storm clears the wild goats run off, saying that since he favored strangers over his old flock, he would surely do the same to them. Moral: neglect the old for the new and you will keep neither. — Aesop
