Galileo Jupiter Moons

In 1610 Galileo turned his telescope on Jupiter and saw four small moons circling it — plain proof that not everything turns about the Earth. The king of the planet-gods, named for sheer lordliness, proved indeed the greatest, with its own wheeling court that broke the old cosmos open.
