Milky Way Galaxy

The pale band across the sky is the disc of our own galaxy seen edge-on from within — hundreds of billions of stars. Galileo's telescope first dissolved the milk into uncountable points of light. And the science kept the myth's word: galaxy, from the Greek for milk, the milk of Hera still in the name.
