Loki Baldr Death

myth:loki_baldr_death

Loki contrives the death of the beloved god Baldr, guiding the one thing that could harm him — a dart of mistletoe — into the hand of his blind brother, and then blocks his return from the dead. For this the gods bind Loki beneath a serpent that drips venom on his face, his wife Sigyn catching the drops in a bowl; when she turns to empty it, his agonized writhing shakes the earth. — Norse myth (Edda)
