Lafcadio Hearn

myth:lafcadio_hearn

Lafcadio Hearn is the world's ghost-lore gathered into one life. Born on a Greek isle to a Greek mother and an Irish father — his very name from the island of Lefkada — raised among the ghosts of Ireland, steeped in the Creole and voodoo tales of New Orleans, and at last made Japanese as Koizumi Yakumo, who set down the ghost stories of Japan in Kwaidan: Yuki-onna the snow-woman, the faceless mujina, blind Hoichi and the Heike dead. Greek, Irish, American, Japanese — one hand threading them all. — literary history
